The 18-year-old Violet Affleck speaks up against mask restrictions and discloses she suffered a post-viral illness.

Violet Affleck recently made a compelling statement at a Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Meeting on July 9. The daughter of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, and an 18-year-old Los Angeles resident and first-time voter, she passionately addressed the board. She spoke about her personal experience with a post-viral condition in 2019, highlighting how it showed her the limitations of medicine in dealing with viral consequences. Drawing a parallel, she emphasized the severity of long COVID, a condition affecting many COVID-19 survivors with devastating neurological and cardiovascular impacts.

Affleck stressed the importance of mask availability and usage, air filtration, and far-UVC light in public facilities like jails and detention centers. She advocated for mask mandates in county medical facilities and expanding access to high-quality free tests and treatment. Affleck firmly opposed mask bans, asserting they jeopardize community safety and participation in Los Angeles.

Her advocacy is grounded in evidence from the CDC, which supports the effectiveness of masks in reducing respiratory virus transmission. Despite maintaining a low public profile, Affleck's recent public appearance underscores her commitment to raising awareness and advocating for public health measures.
