Alysha Newman’s Pole Vault Triumph Sparks Debate Over Celebration and OnlyFans Revenue Boost

Alysha Newman, a prominent Canadian pole vaulter, recently made headlines after celebrating her historic Olympic bronze medal in pole vaulting with a provocative dance. Newman, who set a new national record by clearing 4.85 meters, became the first Canadian woman to win an Olympic medal in this event, joining the ranks of Edward Archibald (1908) and William Halpenny (1912).

In her celebration, Newman was seen twerking in front of the crowd and cameras, a move that has sparked debate online. While some critics view the act as attention-seeking, others argue that it was a fitting expression of joy for her landmark achievement.

Newman, who hails from Delaware, Ontario, is also known for her OnlyFans account, where she charges £10 per month. Her recent Olympic success is expected to significantly boost her earnings on the platform.

The use of OnlyFans by athletes has become increasingly common as they seek additional income to support their careers. Jack Laugher, who earned a bronze medal in the men’s synchronized 3m springboard, has discussed using the site to supplement his earnings. Noah Williams, a diver who competed with Tom Daley in the 10m synchronized platform, and tennis player Nick Kyrgios, who also has an account, have joined the trend. While OnlyFans is widely recognized for its adult content, many athletes use it for less explicit purposes, such as sharing behind-the-scenes content with fans.

Despite concerns about the platform’s accessibility to minors, sports federations have generally adopted a permissive stance towards athletes’ use of OnlyFans. The platform reports hosting numerous professional athletes, and Laugher noted that other divers have followed his lead after learning about the financial benefits.

Notably, athletics is the only sport at this year’s Olympics to award prize money, with gold medalists receiving $50,000, highlighting the disparity between Olympic earnings and the revenues generated by the International Olympic Committee.
