 On August 11, 2024, Jordan Chiles was officially stripped of his bronze medal in floor exercise at the Paris Olympics, following a recent decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). On August 10, a CAS judge ruled in favor of Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea of ​​Chile, who competed for third place in the 5th floor final in the 19th century
The CAS decision was based on a petition filed by Barbosu and Maneka Voinia, arguing that the bronze medal was wrongly awarded to Chile. As a result of this decision, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that the bronze medal will be returned to Barbosu. The IOC issued a statement on Aug. 11 to cooperate with the Romanian National Olympic Committee (NOC) to organize a redistribution ceremony with the US. The CAS decision has been referred to the IOC and the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) to oversee the redistribution of medals. 
Chiles, 23, won bronze initially in the floor final, earning her first individual Olympic medal. According to the judges’ scores, he had originally finished in fifth place. However, after a consultation with her coach Cecile Landi of USA Gymnastics, the challenges were revised up again, with Chiles’ score rising from 13.666 to 13.766 for third place. The Romanian Olympic Committee disputed this change, which led to the CAS decision.
